
The My Safe Florida Home Program, which is administered by the Department of Financial Services, will provide financial incentives for Florida residential property owners to obtain free home inspections that would identify mitigation measures and also provide grants to retrofit such properties.

New Florida Legislation
Florida will revive of a 16-year-old $150 million program called My Safe Florida Home. The new bill appropriates $150 million from the General Revenue Fund to the Department of Financial Services’.
The program provides $10,000 as a 2-1 for grant that never needs to be repaid!
Free Wind Mitigation Inspection
Homeowners can receive a free Wind Mitigation Inspection as part of the My Safe Florida Home program. This is a $600 value. The areas inspected during a wind mitigation evaluation are the wind-resistant features of the property. These will include the home’s construction, gable-end bracing, roof geometry and design, the roof to wall connections – i.e. clips, straps, etc., any special impact resistant glass, reinforced garage doors, hurricane shutters, a secondary water resistance barrier, and any other protection used to help prevent wind-borne debris damage.
